Until recently, 616,000 pints of blood weren’t donated each year because of the FDA’s restriction on men who have sex with men (MSM), and women who are with a man who’s ever had sex with another man. Their policy didn’t consider lifestyle, safety precautions, or science–it just focused on sexual orientation. We found this discrimination absurd and wanted to do something about it. We created this awareness campaign that led people to existing petitions to help end the FDA’s policy. We’re happy to report that the policy has since been ended and now everyone has the right to donate life-saving blood.
